This capacity belongs to something other than that which is continuous in itself by which is meant the corporeal form or the actually continuous by which is meant the body. The thing to which the capacity for receiving division and continuity belongs is said to be matter.
But if among the intelligibles, there is that which is one in actuality and which is intellected inasmuch as it is one, then it is intellected inasmuch as it is indivisible. Hence, [the intelligible] is not represented in that which is divisible in position. 42 The conclusion to be drawn is that since all intelligibles are represented in the kind of place where any one intelligible is represented, and since, as shown above, one or more intelligibles can be represented in the human rational soul, it follows that all intelligibles can be represented in the human rational soul.
